Write to the one

Write to one. Market to more.

Each Thursday, I lead a Bible Study centered around grief. My debut book is used as a guide for these women. Today, as I sat and listened to their hard stories, I remembered my “one” all over again.

We write alone, for the most part, and can easily picture the one our words are meant for. But when we begin to market our book, we’re pulled in a million different ways, and it becomes less about the one and more about the many. Because somehow, in this crazy world, we think more is better, and if you haven’t sold to the many, maybe the value of your book isn’t worth it.

Today, I’m reminded God cares about the “one.” After all, He left the 99 to chase after the one. Here’s your reminder, my friend: As you market to the many, don’t forget about the “one.” Don’t forget about why you sat day after day to write. Don’t allow the enemy's lies to silence what God spoke to you in the quiet. Marketing isn’t always about big numbers. It’s about keeping our eyes on the One who gave us the words in the first place and trusting Him with our message.
